Quick Setup Summary

Whether you're building a new site or migrating an existing one, most users follow this general path to get their site live on Rapyd Cloud:

  1. Purchase a hosting plan to get started with your chosen environment size and features.

  2. Invite your team (if needed) so collaborators can assist with setup, domains, or site management.

  3. Deploy your environment and create a WordPress site using the guided setup flow in the dashboard.

  4. Request a free managed migration if you're moving an existing site, or proceed with manual setup or a fresh build.

  5. Preview your site on the environment domain to test it before going live.

  6. Set up transactional email if your site needs to send password resets, confirmations, or notifications.

  7. Connect your custom domain and set it as primary using either managed or self-managed DNS.

  8. Launch your site and explore key features like the Rapyd Cloud CDN, automatic backups, and real-time stats.

This guide walks you through each of these steps in more detail, with tips and links to help you make the most of your hosting from day one.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

The sections below walk through each part of the setup process in detail, with helpful links and tips along the way.

1. Purchase a Plan

To get started, you’ll need an active Rapyd Cloud hosting plan. You can choose a plan from the pricing page or contact our team if you're unsure which is right for you.

2. Invite Your Team

If you’re working with developers, designers, or colleagues, invite them to your team before setup begins. This ensures the right people have access to deploy the site, manage domains, and configure settings.

To invite team members:

  1. Go to your Rapyd Cloud Dashboard

  2. Click Team in the main nav menu

  3. Click Invite people

  4. Enter the email address of teammates you need to invite

  5. Select the correct permissions and send the invitation

3. Deploy an Environment and Create Your Site

Each site on Rapyd Cloud lives inside an environment—either single-site or multi-site, depending on your plan. Once a plan has been purchased, the next step is to deploy that environment and add your first site.

To get started, click Create site in the main area of the dashboard.

This will launch a guided setup flow that walks you through:

  1. Selecting your plan

  2. Setting up your environment (region, PHP version, environment name)

  3. Entering your site details (site name, optional WooCommerce)

Once you complete the flow and click Add site, your environment will be deployed and your WordPress site will be ready in about 10 minutes.

Even if you're planning to migrate a site, you still need to create a site first. The migration request comes after the site is created.

4. Request a Managed Migration (Recommended)

If you're moving an existing WordPress site to Rapyd Cloud, we can migrate it for you—for free.

To request a migration:

  • Go to your site in the Rapyd Cloud dashboard

  • Click the settings cog next to WP Admin

  • Select Migrate existing site

  • Complete the short request form with your login details, server access, and go-live preferences

Our team will handle the transfer, testing, and DNS updates if you choose.

5. Build Your Site on Rapyd Cloud

If you didn’t use a free managed migration, now’s the time to build or migrate your site manually. Whether you’re setting up from scratch or moving an existing site over yourself, Rapyd Cloud gives you the flexibility to work your way—and our team is here if you need support along the way.

Here are a few key things to keep in mind as you prepare your site for launch:

Use your environment domain to preview your site

Every site on Rapyd Cloud is assigned a unique environment domain. You can use this to view and test your site before connecting your custom domain.

Email services are not included

Rapyd Cloud does not offer mailboxes or transactional email by default. If your site sends system-generated emails (like password resets or form notifications), you’ll need to configure a third-party email provider.

Other things to consider

Depending on your setup, this is also a good time to:

  • Upload media and assets

  • Install your preferred plugins or themes

  • Verify site settings, performance plugins, and caching

  • Set up backups and staging if needed

Once everything looks good on the environment domain, you’ll be ready to connect your custom domain and take the site live.

6. Connect Your Domain & Set as Primary Domain

If you chose to let our migrations team take your site live, this step isn’t needed—we’ve already handled it (or will be soon!).

If not, you’ll need to connect your domain manually. Rapyd Cloud supports two DNS setups:

  • Managed DNS: Add your domain in the dashboard, and we’ll provide nameservers to use at your registrar. Once set, you can manage DNS records directly in your Rapyd Cloud dashboard and take advantage of the Rapyd Cloud CDN and WAF.

  • Self-managed DNS: Keep your current nameservers and point your domain to your site’s IP address using an A record.

⚠️ Once connected, set your domain as the primary domain by going to:

Site Settings > Manage > Domains > Custom Domains > ••• menu > Make primary domain

This is what takes your site live on Rapyd Cloud—all traffic to that domain will begin routing to your site here. Be sure everything is ready before proceeding.
