Adding a site is one of the first steps to getting started with Rapyd Cloud. Each site is an individual WordPress installation that lives inside an environment.

This guide walks you through the site creation process—from launching the flow to final setup—so you can start building, migrating, or going live.

Starting the Add Site Flow

There are three primary ways in the dashboard to begin the site creation process. All paths launch the same guided setup flow.

Option 1: Empty Dashboard

For new users, this is often the fastest method. Click Create site on the welcome screen.

Option 2: Sites Screen

Go to the Sites section of the dashboard and click Add site in the top-right corner

Option 3: Plans section

Go to the Plans section of the dashboard and click the plus (+) icon below an environment

Step-by-Step: Add a Site

Once you start the Add Site flow, you’ll be guided through a few simple steps.

Step 1: Select a Plan (if needed)

If you accessed the add-site flow from the empty dashboard or from the Sites screen, you may need to first select a plan. Choose the hosting plan where your new site will live. Each plan supports one environment and may allow for multiple sites, depending on the plan type.

  • If an environment already exists, you’ll move straight to site details.

  • If not, you’ll be prompted to configure the environment first.

Step 2: Set Up the Environment (if needed)

If no environment is set up yet for the selected plan, you’ll be asked to provide:

  • Environment name: A unique label for this environment

  • Data region: Choose from US East (Virginia), US West (Oregon), or Europe (Ireland)

  • PHP version: Select from currently supported versions (PHP 8.2+)

Step 3: Enter Site Details

In the final step, you’ll configure the details of your new WordPress site.

  • Site name: This name will appear as the title of your WordPress site. You can change it later in WP Admin if needed.

  • Default domain: This is the temporary domain you'll use to access your site until a custom domain is connected. It will look something like: [your-entry]-xxxxx.ue1.rapydapps.cloud

  • Add WooCommerce (optional): Check this box if you want WooCommerce pre-installed. Rapyd Cloud will install WooCommerce and enable a suite of professional tools designed for online stores.

Once you’ve filled in the details, continue.

Step 4: Click Add Site

Click Add site to finish the setup wizard and begin creating your site.

If you added environment setup details, we will create your environment first, then add your site. This entire process can take up to 15 minutes.

If your environment was already set up, your new site will be ready in just a few minutes.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

  • You can add multiple sites—up to the plan’s limit
Environments can support multiple sites depending on the plan type. You can continue adding sites until the limit is reached.

  • Your site is live at the default domain immediately

Once your site is created, you can access it right away using the default environment domain.

  • Environment-level settings apply to all sites in that environment
If you're adding a site to a multi-site environment, server-level settings like PHP version, Redis, and MariaDB are shared across all sites.

  • Each site is fully isolated at the application level
Even when multiple sites live in the same environment, each one has its own database, codebase, backups, and domain settings.

  • You can connect a custom domain later
The domain you choose now is just for temporary access. You can connect and configure your custom domain after setup.

Conclusion

Adding a site on Rapyd Cloud is fast, flexible, and designed to support teams of all sizes. Whether you're starting from scratch or preparing for a managed migration, the site creation flow ensures you’re ready to build, test, and go live in just a few clicks.

Once your site is up, you can access powerful management tools for domains, backups, staging, logs, performance, and more—all right from your dashboard.
