It all begins with adding a site on Rapyd. Whether you plan to migrate your site from another host or plan to start building directly on Rapyd, this is an important step in the process.

See the steps below to learn how to add a site using the Rapyd dashboard.

Step-by-step: Adding a Site

1) Access the Sites area

Log in to the Rapyd dashboard and you should be brought to the Sites area by default. If you are not there, you can click Sites in the top menu bar.

2) Click + Add Site

Once you are in the sites area, you will see a pink button next to the search bar for adding a site. Click this to begin the process.

3) Select plan for the new site

Clicking + Add site will trigger a modal window that shows a dropdown menu of plans that you have available in your subscriptions. These are plans that you have paid for that do not currently have a website associated with them. If you have more than one subscription, the available plans will be organized by subscription.

If all of your plans are already associated with sites, or if you have no plans in your subscriptions, a modal window will appear prompting you to purchase a plan.

Please see the following guide to learn how to add a plan to your subscription(s): How to Add a Plan to a Rapyd Subscription

Once you select the plan that you want to add a site for, a short description of the plan will be visible. You can hover over the question mark tooltip to see that plan's technical specifications.

Once you have selected the plan to add a site for, click Continue.

3) Add Site Details

The next part of the process involves specifying details about your site:

  • Site name: Choose something that aligns with the site's purpose.

  • Site domain: At this stage, the domain that you add is only for vanity, and is not linked to the final domain that you will connect when you take your site live. This is just to make things easier to keep track of.

  • Location: Choose a location that is closest to the majority of your site's users. This will ensure optimal load times.

  • PHP version: In most cases, you can go with our default option. We support PHP 8+, so if you are running an older version of PHP, we recommend upgrading. If an upgrade is not possible, please reach out to our support team for further guidance.

4) Confirm details and add site

Once you have added your desired site details, click Add site. The deployment process can take up to 20 minutes. If you suspect that things are not working as expected, please don't hesitate to start a chat with our support team so they can take a look.
