Do you ever wish you could just pause your subscription for a few months rather than cancel it entirely? We know we do, which is why we've incorporated a Pause Subscription feature into Rapyd that can be managed directly from the dashboard.

This feature is great for customers who need to stop their Rapyd services for a few months or want to take advantage of a promotional price but aren't ready to launch a site yet.

In this guide we go over the steps for pausing and resuming a subscription along with some important information surrounding this feature.

The pause subscription feature exists primarily to provide our customers with the ability to take advantage of time-sensitive promotions without the commitment of migrating to our platform right away.

For this reason, no site (live or development) can be hosted while a subscription is paused. See more details below.

Pausing a Subscription

1) Go to the billing section

Log in to the Rapyd dashboard and navigate to the Billing area by clicking the link in the top navigation bar.

2) Select the subscription to be paused

Once in the billing area, click View subscription for the subscription that you want to pause.

3) Click Manage next to Subscription

In the top left box of the subscription details view, you will see the subscription total price along with a link that says Manage. Click this link.

4) Select "Pause Subscription"

When you click Manage, a popup will appear that prompts you to either select Pause subscription or cancel subscription. In this case, we want to select Pause Subscription then click Continue.

If you have active sites in the subscription, a notice will appear that prompts you to first remove any active sites.

Check out the following guide to learn how to remove active sites from a subscription: How to Delete a Site

If you do not have any active sites in your subscription, you will proceed to a brief confirmation page. This page will highlight the date that your subscription will automatically renew, but you can always resume your subscription anytime before then.

5) Confirm and finalize

Click Pause subscription to confirm and finalize the process. You will receive an email from our Merchant of Record (Paddle) that notifies you of a billing date change. The new billing date will be 6 months from date of pausing the subscription.

Resuming a Paused Subscription

1) Go to the billing section

Log in to the Rapyd dashboard and navigate to the Billing area by clicking the link in the top navigation bar.

2) Select the subscription to be paused

Once in the billing area, click View subscription for the subscription that you want to pause.

3) Click "Restart now"

At the top of the subscription overview area you will see a notification that indicates that the subscription was paused.

This notification contains the date that the subscription was paused, the automatic renewal date, and a link to Restart now. Click the Restart now link.

4) Click "Restart subscription"

A popup will appear that prompts you to confirm that you want to restart your subscription along with some details about your subscription. Clicking Restart subscription will finalize the process.

A notice will appear in the dashboard that indicates a successful subscription renewal along with an email from our Merchant of Record (Paddle) about the subscription billing date change.

Example Scenario

For example, you purchase a monthly Rapyd subscription on April 3, but then you decide that you are not ready to make the most of Rapyd, so you pause your subscription on April 7. When you pause your subscription, the automatic renewal date is set to October 7.

After some time away, you are ready to take advantage of Rapyd on July 14. You decide to resume your subscription. Once you resume the subscription, your next billing date would be August 14.

The same logic applies to yearly subscriptions.

Important Information

  • Discounts applied to subscriptions that are paused will be reapplied and extended when the subscription is resumed (if applicable).

  • You can restart your subscription at any time, but a subscription can only be paused up to a total combined period of 6 months.

  • The same subscription can be paused multiple times, but the total time paused has a maximum limit of 6 months.

  • When you pause your subscription, no charges will be applied, and your subscription will be set to automatically renew 6 months from the date of being paused.

Now you can pause and resume your subscriptions as needed! If you run into any issues while trying to pause or resume, simply reach out to our support team and we'll be happy to assist you.
