Security Features on the Rapyd Dashbord

An overview of the security features built-in to Rapyd.

Updated over a week ago

Performance and reliability are core pillars of what Rapyd Cloud is all about. However, we take security just are seriously, and our platform deploys your sites and apps with a number of security features baked-in.

Monarx is a premium security features that is included on all Rapyd Cloud plans at no extra cost so you can focus on running your business with the peace of mind that our multiple layers of security provide.

Our Advanced SiteShield addon ($4 / mo) automatically detects when a WordPress plugin has a vulnerability and instantly deploys a virtual patch to safeguard your website even before the plugin developer releases an update. This advanced security layer adds an extra layer of protection for your website and prevents it from being exploited by attackers.

This guide goes over how to access the Security area of your Rapyd Cloud dashboard along with overviews of the Monarx malware scanner and the Advanced SiteShield add-on.

Accessing the Security Dashboard

The Rapyd Cloud dashboard houses all security features in one convenient area for each site. You can access it by going to Sites > Manage site > Security.

Monarx

What is Monarx?

Rapyd Cloud has partnered with Monarx to deliver automatic malware protection and removal for our customers. They said it best - Monarx uses technology that identifies malware based on what it does rather than what it looks like. It achieves this by working directly through the PHP engine on your Rapyd Cloud server in order to get a real-time understanding of all website activity, and there is virtually no impact on your server's resources, as scan analysis occurs in the cloud.

In addition to malware scanning, Monarx also provides malware insurance that will remove any detected malware from your site, absolutely free.

Simply put, Rapyd Cloud's partnership with Monarx improves your sites security and ensures that you have the upper hand in the constant battle against malware.

How to use Monarx with Rapyd Cloud

Monarx comes automatically installed on all websites. This means that there is nothing needed from your end to make use of malware scanning and insurance.

In the security area for your site, you will see a general overview of what Monarx is doing for your site. If your plan is Startup, Performance, or Enterprise, you will see that your site is protected with malware insurance.

Please note that Starter Plans and staging sites are not protected with malware insurance.

To see more details, click Open Monarx.

This will bring you to the Monarx summary dashboard, which displays data about the status of your website, details about malware files, and a handy help area.

Dashboard

This area shows you the protection status of your site. If any malware has been found, it will also show you how many files have been quarantined and/or removed.

Details

The details pane shows the current remediation status of recently discovered malware instances. This area helps paint a detailed picture of detected malware and empowers you to take action.

Advanced SiteShield Dashboard

The Advanced SiteShield dashboard provides a powerful and centralized view of your site’s security. With this tool, you can easily monitor vulnerabilities, view outdated software, and keep track of threats blocked over the last 30 days.

Accessing the Advanced SiteShield Dashboard

Navigate to the Security tab in your account and select "Open Advanced SiteShield" to access the new dashboard. This opens a detailed security interface that includes a summary at the top, as well as an in-depth table of your site’s software components.

Dashboard Overview

At the top of the Advanced SiteShield dashboard, you’ll find three key summary panels:

  • Vulnerable Software: Shows the number of software components with detected vulnerabilities.

  • Outdated Software: Lists the number of components with available updates but no current vulnerabilities.

  • Last 30 Days: Displays the total threats blocked by Advanced SiteShield in the last month.

These panels provide a quick snapshot of your site’s current security status.

Software Table Breakdown

Below the summary panels, the software table displays all your site's components and their security details. Here’s a look at each column:

  • Component: The name of the plugin, theme, or system component (e.g., WordPress core, PHP, MariaDB).

  • Enabled: Indicates whether the component is active on your site.

  • Type: Specifies the type of component, such as Plugin, Theme, PHP, or Database.

  • Version: Displays the current version of the component.

  • Status: Shows the security status, which may include:

    • Up to date: The component is current with no vulnerabilities.

    • Outdated: An update is available, though no vulnerabilities are detected.

    • Vulnerable: Advanced SiteShield has identified a vulnerability in this component.

The Status column includes actionable indicators. For example, if a component is outdated or vulnerable, you will see an option to update it directly from the table. Simply click the three dots next to the component, select Update and the system will handle the update for you.

Updating Components

The Advanced SiteShield dashboard makes it easy to keep your components updated:

  • If a component is flagged as Outdated or Vulnerable, click the three dots icon next to the component’s entry and select Update. This will initiate the update process directly from the dashboard without needing to navigate to another section.

  • For WordPress core, click on Update Now next to the version number at the top of the dashboard if an update is available.

Important Notes

  • Data refresh: The Advanced SiteShield data is updated based on the API, which may occasionally have a delay due to caching. This could mean a wait time of up to an hour for the latest security data to appear.

  • Patchstack plugin install: We install the Patchstack plugin on your site, which is an integrated service included with Advanced SiteShield. You can access the plugin's settings, but please ignore the Log in button and the Change API Key link. These are intended for individuals who have their own Patchstack plan, which is not necessary for Rapyd Cloud customers.

How to Remove Advanced SiteShield

To remove Advanced SiteShield from a plan, you must first deactivate it on your site, then you can remove it from the billing area.

Step 1) Deactivate Advanced SiteShield

  1. Navigate to Sites > Security

  2. Set toggle to off for Advanced SiteShield

Step 2) Remove Advanced SiteShield from Your Plan

Once you have disconnected your Advanced SiteShield license from your site, you can remove it from your plan.

  1. Go to Billing > View subscription > Edit plan

  2. Scroll down to Advanced SiteShield and remove licenses to the desired amount.
