How to Export the Content of a WordPress Site?

To export the content of your WordPress site, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

  • Navigate to the Tools menu and select Export.

  • Choose the content you want to export, such as posts, pages, or custom post types.

  • Select any specific categories, authors, or date ranges.

  • Click the Download Export File button to generate an XML file containing your selected content. This XML file contains all the data of your site. It is now saved on your computer.

How to Import an XML File to WordPress

  • Click on the Import section to import the file to your WordPress site. Now click on Run Importer. If it needs to be installed, then let your site install this feature. It only takes a few seconds.

  • Now click on Choose file as shown below. Choose the XML file you exported as shown above.

  • After you have chosen an XML file, you will see the name of the XML file being displayed as shown below. Now click on click on the button Upload file and import to upload the file to your site.

  • Now choose an author's name and mark the box that says Download and import file attachments Then hit the Submit button to complete uploading the file.

  • If the upload is successful, you will see the notification shown below confirming the upload of your XML file.
