Guide to Domain Statuses on Rapyd Cloud

Learn all about domain statuses on the Rapyd Cloud dashboard.

Introduction

When managing your domains in the Rapyd Cloud dashboard, each connected domain displays a status that tells you whether it's fully operational, still being configured, or needs attention. This guide explains what each status means, when it occurs, and what to do about it.

Status

What It Means

What to Do

Active

Your domain is fully connected and serving your Rapyd site. DNS is configured correctly through Cloudflare, and all features (CDN, WAF, Full Page Caching) are operational.

Nothing — your domain is live and working as expected.

Pending Validation

Your domain has been added to Rapyd, but the DNS connection is not yet complete. This usually means DNS changes are still propagating or a configuration step hasn't been finished.

Click Configure DNS in the dashboard to review your setup. If you connected via Cloudflare API, verify that your API token is valid and has the correct permissions. If you connected via Cloudflare Nameservers, confirm that both nameservers have been updated at your registrar and allow time for propagation.

Expired

The domain connection has timed out, or there is an issue with the domain's registration or SSL certificate.

Re-initiate the domain setup from the Rapyd dashboard. If the issue persists — for example, if the domain registration itself has lapsed — resolve the registration with your registrar first, then reconnect the domain in Rapyd.

Where to View Domain Statuses

You can check your domain statuses in two places within the Rapyd dashboard:

  • Domains directory — Shows all domains associated with your account and their current statuses at a glance.

  • Site-level Domains tab — Go to Sites > [Select Site] > Manage site > Domains to see the statuses for domains connected to a specific site.

Common Questions

My domain has been "Pending Validation" for a long time. What should I do?

Start by clicking Configure DNS in the dashboard to verify that your nameservers are correctly pointed to the ones shown. Nameserver propagation can take up to 24 hours in rare cases — you can verify progress using a tool like What's My DNS. If you used the Cloudflare API method, also double-check that your API token hasn't been revoked or expired in your Cloudflare account. If everything looks correct and the status hasn't changed after 24 hours, contact our support team.

Can a domain go from "Active" back to "Pending Validation" or "Expired"?
Yes. This can happen if nameservers are changed away from the Rapyd-provided Cloudflare nameservers, if a Cloudflare API token is revoked, or if the domain registration itself expires at the registrar level.

My domain shows "Expired," but my registration is still valid. What's going on?
This can occur if the DNS connection timed out during initial setup before validation was completed. Try re-initiating the setup from the dashboard. If the problem persists, reach out to support so we can investigate further.
