Introduction

If you have the CDN and Web Application Firewall (WAF) enabled, you may encounter blocked access to WP Admin or other protected areas due to WAF security rules. To resolve this, you can temporarily whitelist your browser, allowing you to bypass the WAF for your current session without disabling protection for your site.

How It Works

  • The WAF Bypass allows you to whitelist your current browser so you can access WP Admin without interference.

  • The bypass only lasts for your current browser session – WAF protection is re-enabled automatically when you close and reopen your browser.

  • This setting is only available if your site has both the CDN and WAF enabled. If the CDN is disabled, this option will not appear.

How to Whitelist Your Browser

Step 1: Navigate to the Security Settings

  1. Log into your Rapyd Dashboard.

  2. Go to Settings > Security.

  3. Locate the Web Application Firewall (WAF) section.

Step 2: Enable the Temporary WAF Bypass

  1. If WAF is enabled, you’ll see a blue notification box indicating that the firewall is active.

  2. Click "Whitelist Browser" to temporarily bypass the WAF for your session.

After clicking, you will see a success message like the one below. You can simply close the new tab with the success message and proceed to access your site's admin area without issue.

Step 3: Access WP Admin

Once your browser is whitelisted, you can access WP Admin and other protected areas of your site without being blocked. The WAF remains active for all other users and browsers.

Closing Your Browser Re-Enables WAF

  • The bypass only lasts for your current browser session.

  • Once you close and reopen your browser, the WAF will be re-enabled automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should use the WAF Bypass?

Use this feature if you are blocked from WP Admin or another protected area due to WAF security rules but still want to keep WAF enabled for site protection.

Is this the same as disabling WAF?

No. The WAF remains active for all other users and browsers. Only your current browser session is whitelisted.

How long does the WAF Bypass last?

It lasts until you close and reopen your browser. After that, WAF protection is automatically restored.

What if I don’t see the option to whitelist my browser?

  • Make sure your site has both the CDN and WAF enabled.

  • If the CDN is not enabled, this setting will not appear.

  • If you're still having issues, contact support for assistance.

Conclusion

The WAF Bypass feature allows you to temporarily whitelist your browser, ensuring you can access WP Admin without disabling the Web Application Firewall for your entire site. Since the bypass only lasts for your current session, your site remains protected while giving you the flexibility to manage it without interruptions.
